Fire Fighter (Help) please

Hi there anyone know about becoming a fire fighter in BC, I have a friend in the uk who has been a fire fighter for several years and would like to apply. any help would be much appreciated.
some say they need to be landed immigrants
some say eligible to work in canada
confusing please help

I've a Canadian friend that has 5yrs experience as a retained firefighter gained from a posting on the Sunshine Coast. His family relocated to the interior, and after 2 years, he's still not been able to get a similar role here. He's got more fire fighting qualifications than you can shake a stick at, but the waiting list is long and vacancies are few and far between, so for now he's just an unpaid volunteer.

so has she mate, is he looking for work in the interior or greater vancouver, or is it all the same..

Some say they've got f*** all chance.

He's looking for work anywhere - as mac says, opportunities are very rare. Moving here from another country and relying on working in that profession for a living is really not a good strategy.

My oh in Ontario has several friends who have been volunteers for years as you say its literally dead mans shoes
