hello everyone,
me and my family are looking to emigrate to canada as soon as possible.
obviously with the economic downturn finding employment has become increasingly difficult for everyone never mind immigrants.
i am an electrician by trade and have been qualified for 15 years, have been contract and project manager for a facilities company and i am currently operations manager for a generator installation company.i have my MIET and would like peoples advice on finding work in canada in a managerial role.
we have friends who live in british columbia and they have a spare house we can rent or but off them or we can try ontario which would be my preferred option.
we have 3 daughters aged 2,7,12 so obviously this would be a major decision with them in mind.
any advice would be greatly appreciated.
thanks for now.

If you do, you can apply for PR without a job offer. You would however need to get provincial/Red Seal qualification to be able to work in Canada. You may also want to talk to utility companies, such as BC Hydro, they have been bringing in people from the UK in the past and putting them through Red Seal.
Don't expect to go straight into management in any job, you may be lucky, but more likley you would need to prove yourself first. Often immigrants end up taking a step or two back and working their way up, unless you have very specialised skills not readily available here.
