Happylandings,
I have a mate who just did the London Marathon ... personally I'm trying to find the time to do any sort of exercise but then again given your surroundings maybe your a little more motivated (or maybe I'm just a lazy g*t
... it's about 9 degrees C in Liverpool today
Thanks for the reply - what constitutes a 'townhouse' i.e. in terms of the UK(if you know) i.e. is it a semi-detached with 2 / 3 bedrooms etc???
Also I had another post from Bananahammock who's husband does the daily commute from Nanaimo to Victoria and recon's its takes about 1 hr to the 'south end of Malahat' (not sure what that means) and then 40 minutes to crawl into 'downtown.'
PS What woudl the equivolent house as your colleague cost in Nanaimo - just for comparisons sake?
Cheers

Hi,
I note you got good info. on townhomes etc. and stuff from dudes in Victoria, regarding areas to live.
The 'Malahat' is a big hill/ ridge, the highway goes over, steep and narrow, can get icy, and foggy in the winter, not popular with commuters. But again, you get used to it, just drive safe there. Summer is ok, although you get trucks and RVs.
As for Nanaimo homes, best to look at MLS and Realtor websites. Though be careful with Realtors, when you come to look. I'd avoid May Sutton and Royal Le Page. (But that's another story).
Townhome at $350k in Langford, could well be 220 - 250 in Nanaimo. Depends on size, location and age. Someone will be along to contradict me, but basically properties in Nanaimo are much cheaper than Victoria. A lot of people choose to live 'up island' as a result, and commute down, as we said.
All the Best.
