Finally landed in Canada

Just woken up in our new life - its snowing here in Lethbridge
Just though I would let you all know about how it all went.
After a week of saying goodbyes (5 Parties) we stayed the night at the Airport so no drive that morning, got to Terminal 1 at Manchester, found Canadian Affair and things started to go wrong. We were put into a queue number 3, the girl said no, your Premium so go to isle 1, OK, 2 mins later, asked to go back to isle 3 as she now had the correct boarding passes, no big problem I hear you say... We were handed a letter saying, 4 3/4 hour delay for take off
. On a brighter note, the girl didn't charge us for the extra suitcase so not a bad trade off (Would have been $250) They then handed us both vouchers for some food. So we sat in the airport for ages, Infact it was 6 hours before we took off, Thomas Cook said that this plane has had troubles all week.... That Info not shared until airborne though :scared:
So, we upgraded, well worth it, bad point though, the arms between seats don't move. Food great, good alcohol, poor movies, great service and no screaming kids.
When we finally landed, a massive hike to immigration, we breezed through - We were sent to a separate immigration section behind the glass doors, signed a few places, Resident card in a month, gave me a sheet on how to get a sin number, got the bags, Customs took out goods to follow list and we were done and though in about 25mins! I am still amazed. Got through and boy was it cold - Border Shorts not the attire!
I would recommend doing your own goods to follow list, simply it down to each box and a worth in Dollars and Pounds and a Grand total at the end.
Thats it, now a few weeks off while finding, Job, Bank, Phone, 4*4, life, warm clothes etc...
Anyone in Lethbridge with any tips, please reply!
Phil

Doesn't sound too stressful.
And welcome. You now have about two weeks to settle into a home and buy an astonishingly large amount of candy to give away at Halloween.
Tip: If you don't like giving away huge amounts of candy, make sure you're not home between 5 & 8 pm. Or turn the lights off and hide behind the sofa.

Hi Phil
I am just crying laughing - never thought I would find anyone else going to good old Lethbridge. We shall be there early 2007. Whereabouts are u staying in Lethbridge - do you already have family there and if not how did you discover my little land of paradise
I have friends and family in the town and have spent many a fab holiday in that town ! Recommend you go to the cheesecake cafe absolutely fab and if you are lucky enough to go into the Sears Mall there is a lady on the customer service desk who is a british expat - somewhere in my mind I think she is called Pauline.
I do know that she is trying to set up a Expat club in Lethbridge so give her a whirl - she's been there 2 or 3 years now great lady go check her out.
Hopefully we will be living on the southside when we get there near the cemetary but could end up over on the west side as you can get more for your dollar.
If you need any information fell free to drop me a PM.
Have a fab life in Lethrbridge - know we will

You are not wrong there!
We were terribly ill-prepared last yr. One pack of kit kats and a bag of Mini-Aero's was just not sufficient for the hoards of families that came knocking.
BTW.....welcome to Canada Rollinson family. Hope you settle well and have lots of fun

My Wife's family live here, Henderson Lake, nice old area but not great for starting a family (Old Houses). Visited here so many times, its like a second home anyway
Just been looking at some show homes here in the south and they are going like there's no tomorrow, went to look at the bottom of Mayor McGrath, just past the new Canadian Superstore and they only had about 4 homes left. We will probably look to the west but not out of choice.
I would also recommend opening a TD account, SOOO easy, go to the main branch in The Bay Mall, a lady called Angela Meadows was great - getting a Sin is really easy as it's next door to the TD!
I Might even look for a job soon :scared: :scared:
Hope we can meet up for a Beer when you arrive.
