Sorry to read of the dilema you are caught up in. I am sure it will turn out right for you & your wife.
Are you restricted to not working for someone in Canada? Only there are a few sites I know where you can bid for work. This is work for web design, graphic & database work. You will be up against people from India offering to work for peanuts but if its just to help you fill your day then you can bid low?
