This recent thread entitled Dress Code - want to fit in!! will go a long way to answering your question.

Well we have Walmart, Sears, The Bay, Eatons, Next, and tons of others clothing stores.
The difference being the sizes.....they are smaller in Canada, if you wear a 10 in UK you will wear a 6-8 in Canada....

If you're that stuffed, most things on sale will fit you perfectly. This is North America.

I'm five foot ten and ten stone. Rather average, I would have thought. The only place I have found where I can buy clothes that fit me is American Eagle; a shop aimed at teenagers.

Hi
George is available here-Walmart! So all is not lost-some not too bad things if you really look carefully!

They have H&M here now, at least they do in Toronto.

I nearly got crushed in the last Next sale so I've gone off them. I think H&M are popular over there.
I love the little non-chain stores with nice good quality clothes so I wonder if where I'll end up shopping?

I'm sure there's one in Oakville too. Hope so.

Affordable, yet not very good quality? Mass produced and one size *almost* fits all?
That do?
Well, that was my experience in the US anyhow.

I'm not stalking you, honestly.
Anyway, I'm 4' 11" and only 8 stone (sorry can't convert it that quickly). I have a difficult enough job to find stuff here as it is.
Teenagers are much, much taller than me so I might be in trouble.

Unfortunately fashion doesn't exist here in my opinion. You have to really shop around to find one or two items that are semi ok. Overall I find the clothes here bland, of poor quality and over priced. Bring as much as you can with you!

P.S. The Next that is over here is not the same chain as Next in the UK.

I think that is a bit unfair, when you have to wear snowsuits and toques and mitts for 8 months of the year, how else would we dress???

We are too busy trying to keep from freezing to death then manage our fashion:-)

Sounds a bit of a different "London" then :)

I dress the same here for work as I did in London (UK). Shirt (full sleeved when cool, short-sleeved when warm), cotton chino trousers and reasonably smart shoes.

I tend to go for designer stuff as I think it's better quality (Ralph Lauren, YSL, Hilfiger etc). I have no problem getting those items here, but I wait until it's on sale and then stock up. I hate shopping for casual/work clothes anyway so as soon as I find something on sale that fits, I'll buy a few in different colours.

The clothes I do like shopping for are the more activity related clothes, so I love MEC, Patagonia, NorthFace and Out There.
