Factor 1-Level of Education Query
#1
This message is with regard to the self assessment points system; factor 1 - Education.
I have spent 17 years in continuous full-time education in England, studying for four years at University College Scarborough to obtain my Bachelor of Arts Degree with Qualified Teacher Status. However, I am unsure which category to tick as none of them seem to apply to me. I have achieved higher than a "two year university degree with 14 years in education" which allows me 20 points. Yet, the next level states "three year diploma, trade certificate or apprenticeship (other than university) with 15 years in education" which allows me 22 points. I would benefit from the extra 2 points; am I eligible to check the category for 22 points as I have more than a two year university degree?
Also, do you have to have a job offer to apply for a Visa, or can you get accepted without one? I am a primary school class teacher and about to enter my 6th year of continuous teaching in London, England. If I do not have enough points to qualify, is Occasional / Supply Teaching an acceptable job offer?

fraid not. its 20 points for a single bachelors degree. the 2 years is the minimum
but it also covers anything above it until you get to the next one which is 2 or more
bachelors degree. you cant tick non university diploma if your degree is auniversity
one. the reason they get more points is to try and attract vocational skilled people
rather than academic ones.

you only nee dthe HRDC approved job offer to apply for a work permit. you can apply
for PR without one, however if you did have one youd get a lot more points.
