Default ey up...

Hello I am new to this site and would just like to say Hi to all.#
I am originally from up north in England and am there at this time, but have previously just moved back from a 2yr stint in France. I didn't settle very well and so have moved back to uk, but we are now looking to moving to Canada. We are very interested in N/b area especially after reading info on the forum, and also house prices, but am slightly worried. I didn't settle very well in France as the region was very rural, and as now my 2 girls have started full time school I am ready to go back to work but found that impossible in France, my french is not bad, but not good enough to work there. I am worried that n/b is very very quiet like the Limousin region where we lived, nothing to do, also that there won't be any work for myself and hubby, he is a builder, I am a hairdresser, and my biggest worry is churches? Are there any lively churches in this area? The church I go to in uk is fantastic, lively and we all love to go, but in France we really struggled to find a decent one. Does anyone know of any?

Think we will be coming out in june for a month maybe, to check out toronto and n/b area. Love the look of n/b (seen daveJules photos) but just really unsure. I know it will probably take upto 3 years for us to get out there but dont want to make wrong choices as they work out expensive. Was thinking of maybe renting for 1 yr see how we go on?
Anyone know how much it is in total to emmigrate with visa costs etc?
thanks

Hello and welcome

Does your OH have qualifications in building? What sort of building? If so he may be able to get a job in Alberta and you could go on a WP. If his occupation is on a certain list tehn you would get a WP too and as far as I can gather they are short of hairdressers too!

Don't worry about finding a good church in NewBrunswick. They are everywhere and very welcoming. You should go to some services when you are over visiting. The church community here is both welcoming and unassuming (or so I have found when talking to close friends). As for nothing to do..... we have a theatre where they host ballet, opera and theatre, there are loads of clubs for kids and adults, the park is great in summer and winter and of course there is the hockey. There are two cinemas, bowling, swimming and a really good library. Our problem is trying to narrow down the options. (We are in Moncton by the way).

Hope this helps.

i could be mistaken but you have to have a trade the fact he has been doing it for ten years doesn't count for nothing.

Take a look at the business immigration section for self employed at the CIC website. Experience counts in this section.
