A bit of advice please, at present I'm in the UK just killing some time basically awaiting my PR. Does anyone in the group know how I could get in touch with/get onto a Canadian distance course for plumbing? I've found similar courses in the UK for plumbing which I could start but would then need to get into skills conversion-if I start a Canadian distant course while I am killing time awaiting my PR it would cut down on the messing about at the other end. I already hold UK City & Guilds certificates that put me in a good position to go into plumbing work. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks Steve

Not sure you can do this distance.....most plumbing courses I know of are via college on an apprenticeship type basis. Where are you headed in the UK? Check out www.bcit.ca for BC and look under "Trades" when you search.

This is relevant to the trades in the province of Alberta:
http://www.tradesecrets.org/
Go to: Trades & Occupations, scroll down to “plumber (then click), and read the info.
This is where you should start. If I were you, I’d find out now if your current qualifications would be recognized in Alberta. Understand that each province has its own laws that regulate the trades (plumbing is one example). The other provinces of Canada should have similar websites.
Hope this is of some help.

For British Columbia:

The previous link that I gave you has an incredible amount of information on it - check it out thoroughly!

If you select "related links", you can find out what the deal is in Ontario, or in any other province.
