Re: extra points for adaptability
Hi
'' quote''
You may be awarded selection points if you can show that you or your dependants will adapt easily to living in Canada;
Surley they dont just mean:
Spouse education
Study
Arranged employment
and relatives.
There is more to being adaptable than this.!!!
I was raised in Canada
I have a massive family and friend base
I know th country like I have lived here all my life, I have spent on vacation 2 years here in the last 7.
I have collage contacts where i have arranged future training.
I have made friends with the MP for the area.
I have a Canadian accent
I know how to drive in the winter
I can go on and on
IF I am not adaptable who is ???
Sorry I am mad !!!

Re: extra points for adaptability
There are no points to be awarded for adaptability other then those listed in the
Adaptability factor in selection grid, period.
And surely - they mean spouse's education, yours and/or spouse's education or work in
Canada, relatives in Canada and arranged employment. That is all.
Please provide a link to the page you have taken the quote from.

Re: extra points for adaptability
You are confusing "Adaptability" factor in new law with the "Personal suitability"
factor under the old law. The "Personal suitability" factor is extinct as you
described it, while Adaptability factor is a part of new selection grid.
Points in the new Adaptability factor are not subjective and cannot be awarded on the
discretionary basis, unlike "Personal suitability" points in the old law which were
highly discretionary and subjective. And looks like the original poster just
interpreted what s/he read on CIC website the way s/he wanted to read it.

April or Roger - You forgot one major attribute that is required for adaptability
which should have been included. Can you play hockey!

Re: extra points for adaptability
The entire application is an assessment of whether you will be able to become
economically established in Canada (successful).
The factors expressed for selection have been identified as those that are most
likely to predict this establishment.
Adaptability is one of those factors and the way points are scored for adaptability
are also indicators. These can be seen at the CIC site.
Also, officers are allowed to express their opinion, despite the point score, of
whether or not you would be successful. If this opinion is seconded by another
officer, you can be accepted or refused as well.

Pleased to see that there is a sense of humour in this newsgroup. Inventive use of
Duct Tape or is it Duck Tape should also be considered in adaptability as well.
