Default Expo/Emigrate Shows

I keep hearing about the expo shows in London/Leeds but I live in Scotland, does anyone know if these shows come up here. I have checked there websites but dates dont go that far ahead. Did any of these shows come to Scotland earlier this year - I have only just started looking at these sites and therefore may have missed all the shows earlier in the year.

Hi Kaz

Emigrate comes to Edinburgh in the early part of the year, I cant rightly remember but I think it was the first weekend in March this year. I'm not aware of the expo having a Scottish stop but it might.

As to the value of the shows, well OH and I have been to maybe 5 or 6 over the last few years and to be honest it was only the last one in Edinburgh that was actually any use to us. By then we had a location chosen, a job secured and were waiting on an LMO etc. This meant we were researching the practicalities like real estate, shipping and money transfer.

We have learned far, far more here on the board and WIKI than we could ever have done at the shows.

Here you will learn about all the available possibilities of visas, permits etc. and which suits you best. After that its a usually a matter of finding a job and to be honest unless your in a very narrow number of fields I don't think the shows can help there.

All my opinion only but I hope it helps

Tom

Thanks Tom

I will watch for the one in Edinburgh next year then, although from what other people have said about the Leeds expo you are probably right about how useful they actually is. As my OH is a chef I dont think he will get any job opportunities at them but may be useful to get the real estate info etc although you get loads of that on this website.

Hi guys, hope you don't mind me chipping in I'm planning to go to the Coventry show that Emigrate run in October. I think there might be some confusion, but there are actually two different shows doing the rounds at the mo one is Emigrate www.emigrate2.co.uk and the other is Opportunities shows www.expo-canada.com, so because they're run by different people hopefully there will be a difference between the two.
Anyway good luck, hope you find what you are looking for!
