Expert TEF question
#1
I`m not sure if many people will know the answer to this. I will be taking my TEF exam next week and its been a struggle to get a place and it means going to Paris. The thing is the an Alliance centre in UK has now told me they will be holding the exam at the end of September which gives me more time to get my French up to A level standard. Now if things going dreadful in the Paris test next week
there is nothing stopping me taking the UK one 5 weeks later (as far as the TEF people are concerned) but I vaguely seem to remember reading a long time ago that the Canadian authorities will not accept a second bite of the cherry if it`s too soon after the first. Does any one know if this is the case.
Thanks in advance

If it's anything like the IELTS they will, the previous test date and test centre is printed on the certificate, so they will know how long has passed between tests.
I haven't heard about such a restriction but I suppose it could make sense.

Surely if that was the case then they would judge each application on it's merits.
A language exam isn't like a trade certification so if you fail massively the first time and then score 100% 5 days later then obviously it would look a bit dodgy since there is no way that anybody could massively improve their command of a foreign language within that sort of time frame.

hm: I took the TEF twice, but with three years between, and with the same result.
For what it's worth: same result both times, and the date of first test was not printed on the second one.
Why don't you cancel the trip to Paris (money and effort saved) -- and only take the later test?

I read your recent article CanadaJimmy , 1 year in Vancouver , great to hear things are going good. Spent a few weeks in Vancouver in 2007, really liked it. Hope things work out for you in the long run
Thanks all.

Just assume the English test would be easier to get good points if you are a native speaker.
