I have my full G licence which I obtained in 2004 after we were entitled but at the time they would not allow my full bike licence to be added so I could ride here without taking another test. Does anyone know if this has been changed or is Canada still not recognising our bike licences?

Its not changed, you need to take the bike test locally still.

From http://www.drivetest.ca/en/license/exchangeoutprov.aspx
...
Note: These conditions also apply to licensed motorcycle riders from other Canadian provinces, from the United States, Switzerland and Canadian Forces - Europe. However there is currently no exchange agreement for motorcycle riders from the remaining jurisdictions.
