In BC you have to take both a written and driving test to get a licence. So what if I did this: Used my friend's Alberta address to get an Alberta one, then transferred it to a BC one?! Saves doing two tests and having to borrow a car etc.
Check BC's swap legislation - we did this last year in MB (before MB was swapping GB licenses) and MB law stipulated that the license to be swapped must have been held for more than 3mths. That worked out fine for us time-wise, but if BC has the same rule, you might want to plan ahead for insurance, etc.

Also it's not legal to have a GB license at the same time as holding one from a country with which GB has a reciprocal swap arrangement. It's a bit confusing when individual provinces aren't swapping but you can be sure that if you swap your GB one, you oughtn't to be requesting a replacement for it.

We came to Alberta in the early nineties and got a licence without taking a test, not even a written one......loopholes are a wonderful thing, eh? Now why isn't there an 'angel with halo' smilie face?
