Any one know how i can exchange my money (approx £8000gbp) before i get to Toronto and open a bank account?
I would like to exchange before we leave if the can doller stays at around 1.92 + my problem is i have not got a Can bank account and do not want to go to Thompsons for hol money, there rate is rubbish comp to the rates i read on this forum.
How can i do it ??????????? pleeeeeeez !!!

www.comparetravelmoney.co.uk You could give them a try ! You will get a better rate than Thompsons but i really doubt you will get $1.92+ from anywhere at the moment !

OK daz, looks like i will need a bank account first in canada before i can gat a good rate, chicken and egg situation i thinks.
maybe better to change half before and half when we land.:curse:

sorry we started looking in march this year, we then went over in june this year, had many job interviews line up before we went over, had a job over that week, then received out LMO abot 3 weeks ago approx, so now we will be flying oct oct 2 from gatwick to start new life.
we were lucky i guess, a lot of hard work, and alot of help from this forum, so thank you forum, house has sold here in uk, and now packing like mad to it all done in time ahh

Sounds good CD, i presume with such a short time line you have Secured yourself a Temp Wk Visa.
We still waiting for them to ask for passports, had meds 6th Aug (PR), should be soon, cant make any plans yet but looking toward October.
Looking at the exchange rate on this site and online people keep quoting the higher rate, 1.92 ect but annoyingly this is unachievable.
Will look at Nationwide as soon as a letter drops onto the mat DEMANDING our passports.
