Hello all,
Any recommendations about how best to send suitcases to Toronto? I am way over my 23 kg limit on my Air Canada flight. Most of my stuff has been shipped but on the final clear out of the house for sale, I now have too much weight and fly out in 5 days. Thanks.

Well either be ruthless or accept the excess charge. We were over and paid for extra baggage..

$100 for 2nd bag, $225 for 3rd bag.
or you could go the cargo route http://www.aircanada.com/cargo/share...-15%2014:26:33

If you make 50,000 miles or 50 flights with a Star Alliance Partner before the end of the year, then you get a 32kg limit and 3 free bags
Probably of no use to you now, but it is another way to do it

Have you tried Parcel2go.com?
They (along with several other logistics resellers) will ship for you.
A quick quote suggests you can send 70kg for approx 150 quid or less.
sendmybag.com is another one.

Also bear in mind that the price for an overweight bag i.e. 23 - 32 kg is the same as a second bag which gives you another 23 kg. You also get 10 kg in your cabin baggage but I have never known them to weigh it.
If you are flying from the UK the fee for a second bag on Air Canada is £50+VAT but it does depend on your ticket class. Best advice be ruthless, it may be cheaper to buy again in Canada (especially if you are moving money to Canada due to the weak CAD) than ship.

Thanks all. Good suggestions. Going to shop tomorrow and then decide.
