Etiquette when dealing with job agencies
So, I quit the job I was in after 9 months here as I don't want to be a town planner anymore and I want to try something new. I am already signed up with three agencies in Calgary for temporary jobs. However, when I call them to see if there's any assigments available I am always directed to their voicemail and they don't call back for ages.
Should I be pestering them every day to indicate that I am desperate for a job assigment or should I politley wait for them to call me back???
Just wondered if those who had experience could advise at all.
Or, should I just try the local Timmies for career opportunities?
Cheers

Wow - big brave move
No idea about agencies - but good luck in job-hunting and I hope you find something enjoyable

Re: Etiquette when dealing with job agencies
I've been told to chase on a weekly basis. I've also been told that the best times to do so are Wednesdays and Thursdays, never Fridays or Mondays. Also, if these agencies have websites, keep looking at postings of interest and apply directly if you see something you like.
Agencies only seem to be in touch when they actually have jobs that suit you... from our experience in Toronto, that is not very often, but Calgary may be very different!
Good luck!
