Is emigrating easier with Job offer?

I have been trowling through the many posts on the site. Im still pretty new so desperately trying to get a range of advice and tips.
Most of the posts seem to stem from PR applications questions/answers.
My partner and/or I maybe be close to getting Job offers. So from what i've read employer led work permits take about 2-6 weeks.
I was wondering if anyone has emigrated this way and brought family over that way. Instead of applying in the UK for PR.
The idea is that one of us would come here first via work then the family will follow after. Also can the family application be made if the primary applicant has a work permit and not PR?

Any advice appreciated.

Yes I did, amongst many others on here.

Re: Is emigrating easier with Job offer?

My partner and I are also trying to do the same...... Can anyone advise further about the process?

We are currently applying for jobs but cant make our PR application yet because we need the 10 points from the arranged employment so do we apply for a work permit first separately and then the PR ?

Also, does anyone know what the position is on Arranged Employment Opinions - are employers having much luck getting these at the moment? My partner is in the construction industry.

Many thanks

We came here just over a yr ago on TWP and although we have been advised we have many options for PR we have opted to just apply for PR on our own ;);)

Its not that hard to move over on TWP once you get the employer to apply for it, you get your LMO and hand in at the airport (as long as you dont need medicals) and done WP in hand........
OK maybe not as clean cut as that, but honestly not that hard, for us i didnt want to move without a job to come to, with little kids it would be ok to be PR but then you are risking that there is the right jobs in the area :p

You advise poster that your OH is in construction....what does he do??
The construction here in town is still very strong with new buildings going up daily and larger ones as well, but winter is coming and they are trying to finish them off...........lol
But i would do a general search of the site for twp and there is loads of people come over this way...good luck

Yes it's easier, but don't underestimate how much not knowing whether you can stay permanently will affect you. I didn't even consider that aspect when I was in the process of moving on a TWP, but since being here it has been on my mind constantly...

I'm hoping to get PR finally through early next year....

Thanks Lancashire Bird, That's really cheered me up - had put everything on hold assuming that economic conditions had scuppered all our plans. He is a painter/decorator with 20 years experience and a Chartered Institute of Builders Site Supervisory Certificate. We dont expect things to be that quick and easy but your positivity is really encouraging. We are moving to Vancouver - so are applying for everything we can.

thanks

You and me both

We came on TWP and due to expire Feb 2010 - employer desperate to keep OH but already have resumes from Canadians. (Original employer merged with larger company since original TWP)

Never found it stressful until we found out that employer cannot go for a new LMO due to resumes on hand :(

We might just make it:o

Remember that if you haven't got PR and you lose your job and can't get another one then you will have to come home.

I'm amazed by how many people seem to come over here without a job - especially at the moment, when decent paying jobs are harder to find.

It's rare that I agree with you mate, but this time I do. I've changed countries more than most, but never without a prearranged job to go to.

Don't come out on WP unless single

I was bought out on a work permit with a company who, unbeknownst to me was being bought out by another. I lost my job in less than a year.

I found myself with an entire family half way around the world, without work, having to ask for WP again from prospective employers. One offered me a job, then got sick of waiting and offered it to another. Then got sick of that person and offered it back to me. Then got bored of waiting again and withdrew it. Believe me the left hand does not know what the right is doing. Never lived in a place with so many half wits who seem like they are still on a bad cannabis experience from their student days.

Unless you are single and don't mind being made homeless I would never never recommend taking this chance. Canadian employers don't care about people's families and their welfare or wellbeing.

Look, just don't do it. Get a PR beforehand or come out on WP and apply as soon as possible for PR through PNP. Will take 6-12 months. If you're lucky you may be ok but I'm not going to go through that hell again.

Been reading this forum for a while but now adding thoughts.

I've been applying for jobs for last 2 to 3 years and no joy. Even got my PR earlier this year and it makes no difference at all.

Unless I take a job stacking shelves at Wal-mart:frown: I may as well head back to the UK than hang around when there's no work.

Top tip would be to try and get something before you come out as its not worth the hassle of trying to find something when you're here.

Or make sure that you have enough funds to last out until you can go through the LMO for a new job

You know have just been having this conversation with another expat on here - if you moved from Manchester to Birmingham would you do it without having a job in place ????????

So sorry about your story :(

Last point is the best advice
