I know many were critical of last weeks Emigrate Show, well we travelled up from London to Coventrish yesterday and have to say we found parts of it very useful. Although we are not moving for a while, we found a number of the presentations and stalls on hand helpful.

I think if you are about to start the process the show would be of ultimate benefit.

What we found useful was to get clarification on certain points and also speak to some of the stall-holders face to face, they were able to clarify certain issues for us. I was amazed how helpful they were, considering some of them knew we did not need their services

We also found the man from the Canadian High Commission both approachable and very helpful, we spoke to him within 5 minutes of his lecture finishing.

Also if you do not know where you want to settle this kinda show is very informative.

Also in defence of the folks who went last week - a couple of the stall holders did mention how much better it was this weekend. Apparently last weekend it was a lot more squashed up.

One problem was that they had the two presentation rooms next to each other - so some times the noise from the next room drowned out some of the information in the room we were in.

All in all though, well worth the drive and after the Charlton result, glad I was away from the Valley.

Whilst we went not expecting any great revelations, we were quite surprised to come away with a dilemma over destination again!!

So having spent the last few months (virtually) looking round Ontario and kind of skimming over threads on other provinces, we are now going to spend quite a bit of time researching Alberta!

Hope everyone that went this weekend got what they needed.

Although I am a newbie - of only being here four months today, I would say defo have a look at Alberta!

Same here, we went yesterday. OH was sooo disappointed to find that Quebec was not represented at all, as he has his heart set on Montreal, but after speaking to a couple of people we are now thinking of Halifax area and Alberta. Alberta due to the fact that he can get a job there on PNP, and we could be over in 6 months Bit quick for our original plan but hey ho.

My questions are as follows so if anyone can advise us great if not thanks for reading: Good / Bad points about Alberta & Halifax?, also has anyone heard of Warren Green and what do they think?

Never been to Halifax, but Alberta is great. Plenty of oil money, thus plenty of jobs, close to mountains and skiing. Kananskis and Banff are beautiful. Due to oil money, lots of people relocating here, so that has driven the house prices up.

Warren Green like myself is a licensed realtor who specialises in assisting people to relocate over. If you pay him some money and with the help from his wife he will assist you to get a job, once you have the job offer you can then get PNP quicker. This can all be done by yourself and save yourself the money.

He will assist you to buy a house, but I have noticed that most people that choose him happen to always choose to live close to him!!

Just check out all the information from us all and see who suites your needs and personality. There are no fees for you to pay to get advice from any of us and there is nothing to sign or any committment.

Well most provinces now do PNP, some you pay for with lots of money (i.e. Nova Scotia) some you don't.

We chose New Brunswick because we were looking for a different pace of live (after living 25 miles SW of London) and it helps to know what the skills shortages are and ensure you get any certifications before arriving.

I managed to secure a job within 10 days of landing, but I had done my homework and come over on a research visit making connections with HR departments. If you or your OH speaks French (guessing from the Quebec desire) then New Brunswick may be an alternative. It is the only bilingual province in Canada and if you are bilingual finding work is easy.

Thanks for the replies Helen Parnell and Dave & Jules. Very nice to hear other peoples points of view. Yes we know we could do this ourselves, but we are short on time at the mo. (We are both working 2 jobs each).

New Brunswick we haven't thought of, so thanks for that. Yes we do want to ideally live somewhere that is bilingual.
In some ways I think I would prefer to live in the middle of nowhere.

The reason why I was asking about Warren Green, I just wanted to know if he is Kosher really. I definitely do not want to live near him though That would be a little wierd I think.

Everyone is really great on this site and I am so glad I found it at the start of the process and not the end.
