Living happily in Edmonton over 6 months now, just wondering is there ever a hope of an airline flying directly between these two?? Its an awkward trip for family or friends to visit at the moment, I happen to like my family & friends btw

In a short word NO. Be thankful you have the Edmonton to Heathrow regular flight and Gatwick charter flight.

Can almost see the the tumbleweed a blowin thanks for that Former Lancastrian, suppose I can only keep hoping & with the amount of Irish landing in this city I think a weekly flight would be well availed of . .Happy New Year

Your best bet is from May to October Canadian affair go Gatwick to Edmonton so they need a ryanair/aerlingus to Gatwick aswell. Or Aer lingus fly all year Dublin to Edmonton with a connection in Chicago.
The Gatwick option almost always works out cheaper. The only direct Irish flight at all is to Toronto so Edmonton is pretty far down the list.

Howya salmonfella, I think you'll get on well over here. It's a very busy city with lots of construction work going on. Alberta or Saskatchewan seem to be the 'go to' Provinces at the moment. Edmonton has a very diverse population so us Irish seem to fit in fine. What do you do for a crust?

Eh iaink did you you even check out the link?? Its information about cities in Canada-what to expect etc not some dodgy immigration sitesalmonfella you are gonna have no trouble finding or making friends here loads of young people your age around. We live downtown on Jasper Avenue and theres a good buzz around the bars and clubs. Whyte Ave would be across the river and some would say its the real downtown -haven't been there on a night out yet so can't comment. I buy international call cards for $10 in the store and calling a landline in Ireland is 1c a minute-pretty good. Skype is excellent too.

These sites may have some valuable info but when the crunch comes and they are asking for money thats when the problems start. We have just as much info on this site and best of all its FREE unless you consider the headache tablets I have to buy and copious amounts of rum I need to drink to answer some of their queries

I don't like the site personally as the areas it quotes for some cities aren't actually very nice.

So by that reckoning, and as I'm currently putting off doing my tax return, I should base it on what I earnt back in 1999, as that worked for me then and was just fine?!
