If you don't know it already, connect2edmonton.ca (http://www.connect2edmonton.ca/forum/index.php) has a very helpful forum where you can get all your questions about life in Edmonton answered. To me, Edmonton sounds like the right choice for you to give a go. Maybe also consider Saskatchewan (Saskatoon), with good employment opportunities. Houses are cheaper in Saskatoon than in Edmonton.

Not sure but I would check if I was you, you could possibly have to pass journeyman exams and possibly work as an apprentice until then.

i think your 100% correct
Ive just found out that to work as a welder here in Edmonton ill need to be registered as a welder, its a registered trade seems its illegal to employ a non registered welder or some one who is not an apprentice
which means ill need to get my unrecognized certificates city and guilds appraised.
As anybody been through this?
Seems I have to provide a work history to....mmmmm...now this may be tricky....in the uk I ran my own small business for a few years. About 10
During this time I worked mainly temp jobs to supplement the business
This as left me with a very broken work history unless I can count my own time at my own business??????????
Any body was through the process of getting their trade credentials appraised?
