As has been pointed out, unless you have a work visa or legal residency (not as a visitor) you cannot legally work in Canada.

Perhaps the best you can do is make some connections or build relationships. Opportunities may arise itself.
What types of job are you looking for?

Assuming your work permit is still valid (there are time limits). The work situation has not changed over the past 12 months. Had you given some consideration as to why you could not get work before?

This might be a place to start.

Anyone looking for work in hospitality should remember that good looks and a bubbly personality go a long way. I know you shouldn't need to glam up to get work but it is a fact of life.
Edit: on checking it's not a great link.

This is what i'm basically looking for. I used to work in the Engineering sector and struggled to fidn work in calgary when I was over there in early 2009. I've now come back home and commenced my Law degree so basically i've got 3 months off and but i'm going to have little money to spend when I get there so I need work anything to suppliment my funds.

Yes, it's easy to get work in Vancouver if you have a visa to work but getting a job that pays well is a whole other issue. Housing in Vancouver is expensive too.

This has not been many peoples experience. If you need money to survive, don't count on it being an easy ride. Have enough reserve to survive for a few months without a job. It is also harder during the off tourist season, many seasonal staff laid off and looking for work.
