Default Easter flights - book now or wait?

Title says it all, really!
OH wants to come back at Easter. I have booked his return from the Manchester (actually going to Calgary, as there is no flight on the day we want to Vancouver), but the outbound one from Vancouver (and it only goes to to Gatwick) is $550 on 14th April with Canadian Affair, which is the cheapest we can find currently.
Will this get cheaper or more expensive as the time gets nearer? Is there a cheaper option?
What have other frequent travellers found? Help most appreciated as this long distance relationship combined with me being tied to school holidays is hitting the bank balance hard!

Roll the dice and take the gamble. It could go up or down. If you are happy with the price and can cover it easily, then get it booked and out of the way. If you want to stress over it for the coming months to save a few $'s, then don't book it

I say book, be done with it, and forget it.

No, not yet. Got to wait for the green light from CIC. Who knows when that will be.
Info on Cat 2 processing seems hard to find so no idea when things will move.

I've booked Man to YVR from this end. His outbound one is the expensive one it seems. I'll try phoning about that one.

i'd say book it. Canadian affair have brought in a policy (so they say) of not heavily discounting nearer the time..... that said if you're not fussy on specific days you might still get a deal. I've booked early a few times over the last couple of years, and still check prices and other than the odd specific day deals i've not got it cheaper.

the price you mention doesn't sound bad, and if its over Easter hols, it might get busier as it gets closer to people booking last minute trips over school hols.

Besides that, if its booked it gives you something to look forward to

You are a sweet-talking so-and-so
How could a 4Bells resist such suavity and charm?
Have you been taking lessons from my husband in chat-up lines?
ANYWAY, never mid your dating details!
BACK TO MY FLIGHT QUESTION, please!

Thanks, Mrs-G. I didn't know CA had such a policy.
Sanity is restored

CA or AT ... can't remember which. But ultimately its worked for me.

Plus I just love having something to look forward to, so happy to book up early!

fledermaus is an unknown quantity at this point

No idea whether or not it will make a difference to prices and how many people want to visit/leave the UK but isn't the royal wedding around then? Maybe it will be cheaper if you want to fly that day?
