...H has spoken to his MD, who said he's passed his cv/resume to HR in Calgary...and he's seeing them in February. He's positive about the outcome...
Meanwhile, back here, I've been made a 'priority mover' which means that my job will not exist after 31 March. I have to apply for another job at my level (whether I want it or not) and there are more people out of jobs than there are spare jobs.
So...they are announcing voluntary exit schemes in March/April and depending on the outcome of the resume with Calgary HR, I intend to apply for it. It takes effect in September.
I'd get a pay out, not huge, but a little help in the Canada pot.
We're still in the process of selling the house. Contracts are ready to sifn and we are just waiting for the surveys, mortgage offer (buyer) and exchange of contracts before putting down a deposit on a nice little rented place.
It *will* all come together!

Things have a funny way of working out...! I managed to wangle Voluntary Redundancy from my last job with a bit of a fight, which was great as I was leaving anyway to plan, and then execute, the 'big' move!
Good luck with it all!
Good luck with it all!

Oh....I do hope so. I'm already clicking on webcams here there and everywhere to see 'what Calgary looks like today'
I no longer care enough about my job to be upset about the shoddy way they are treating us...it's just another thing I have to deal with on my quest to get to Canada

Mind you its at it again. Not that I'll complain as long as Banff area is getting some as well.

Yay! I love snow. I'm not put off Calgary by snow reports, I MUCH prefer snow and COLD to a mild winter with p1$$ing rain non stop, fog and 70mph winds.
When I was in Banff, we arrived when it was -15. A bit of a shock after being in UK, but although the cold took my breath away, it was kind of invigorating. Going out on Spray Lake, I believe it dropped to -27. It was perishing, but the skies on that day were a fantastic clear blue, the scenery awesome, and the air was just fresh and clean.
I know it's not going to be like that in Calgary. But give me a COLD snowy, frosty winter that I can wrap up warm for, rather than a wet, windy, miserable slightly warmer one over here. And that's coming from someone who's just got home after standing from 4:55 to 6:15 waiting for the bus....,which didn't BLOODY arrive.

The only thing that could possibly be missing from the description you gave is the scenery.
We get blue skies (most days), brisk cold.
The scenery element is available here.
I've lived in the far SE and the far NW and both afforded views of the foothills and mountains.
