Default Early Childhood Educator

Hi all,

my wife ( Tracey ) is trying to get some information on anybody that has go over to Canada ( Calgary) on a WP or PR as a early childhood educator.

It is on the shortage list and she has had some interest to some emails that she has sent off to pre-schools/kindergartens, but non of them have mentioned LMO or WP's.

Hoping someone can help or advise please,

many thanks,
regards,
Carl

Early childhood educators are i believe in desperate need in BC, well certainly in the cowichan valley on vancouver island so i read in the paper this week.
You,if i remember rightly, would not be able to work with children on a WP or anyone else that comes into the vulnerable category ie: elder, mental health but can when you have PR.

Jempee

If they have a medical towards their WP then Tracey should be able to work in Education or HEalth sectors - same process for teachers as it is for nursing staff coming out

I have a ECE job offer in NS and will be able to work with a wp before I get PR. I am applying for nomination but was also told I could start working on a wp before I got PR status throught the skilled worker route also.

So Carl, are you now considering Vancouver Island? After all if that's where the need is.......Wouldn't that be fun!
We could be your surrogate family there! You'd never get rid of us.......Tee-hee!

I was only going on what i was told when i inquired. Another couple that came over a short while ago was also told that they could not work within educational/vulnerable persons on there work permit
so perhaps you do just have to have a medical before hand to get over that restriction.

That is correct in BC, on a WP = no work in restricted occupations as above.

Hi all,
so we have some say Tracey can and some saying she can't

Where did you look this info up and where does it say about WP restrictions please? Also does this only apply to BC? We are hoping to go to Alberta.

Or4ngecrush,
hope you don't mind if I asked what sort of qualifications you have, so we can relate them back to Tracey's?

Robin,

would be great living near you lot, your brill people and enjoy your company

The why it's looking, we will have to go where the work is.
I still haven't been told for for sure, if I can get WP/LMO as an apprentice in BC yet, no one will tell me for sure?????

Thanks to you all, please keep the advice coming,
regards,
Carl

hi
cj here as you might remember im a reg childminder. and because i have my level 3 i can work in a day care center or run it, in ont you could help in the schools but you wouldnt get paid
but you go to the local health dept and they might get you something working in the school system helping out slower children. and than she could take a collage course and get teachers dg. kind of something you might want to call the local school board about and see what they say. than try the local training board and see where she stands. it also depends what she holds over hear. i was told im ece reg but kind of over the mark to be day care worker so what do i do???

I am a UK trained NNEB (national nursery ed board) which is now known as an early childhood educator. I applied for a work permit and because I was going to be working with children, had to pass a medical before the work permit was issued.
The one problem I could potentially see for you is this, when I was given my work permit (Sept 04) ECE was listed on the government NOC list as a category C job, meaning that I was not able to get my husband an open work permit which I am guessing you will need.

My OH was in Canada for nearly 3 years as a visitor - fine for us but then we had planned for that and also don't have any children, which is lucky because they also would NOT have had the right to free schooling.

Ok so I checked the NOC website, an ECE is classified number 4214. I copied below what skill type that is and I read it to be level B which means if Tracey can get a work permit, you will be able to get an open work permit and study permits for the kids.

Hope that helps x

2. What are NOC Skill Type 0 and Skill Levels A and B?

Skill Type 0 refers to all management occupations. The NOC codes for these occupations begin with 0. Skill Level A represents occupations usually requiring university education and Skill Level B corresponds to occupations usually requiring college education or apprenticeship training. The second digit of the NOC codes for these occupations (except management) is 1, 2, or 3. Please consult the NOC Training Tutorial for further details.
