Default Dual passport

When I am over and living in canada can I have a british and canadian passport, and when we have children will they have a dual nationality or will they be british or canadian ? Later Matthew

Jesus, Matthew, give us some context.

In another thread you said you were married to a Canadian.

So, yes, in the fullness of time -- after you've spent three years as a permanent resident of Canada -- you can apply for Canadian citizenship.

And, yes, your future children will have dual nationality.

But, even if your wife was British, and your children were born in Canada, your children still would be dual nationals.

Boris, as a German you generally cant have dual citizenship.


But as a Brit its no problem

There days Germans have fewer problems than before, provided they respect the processes.

And Canadian citizenship by birth + German citizenship from a parent is always ok.
