I'd agree that most stoners are thin but so are most smokers of (only) straight cigarettes and so are most rent boys. Perhaps it's due to the calories burned when sucking hard or the inability to eat when one's mouth is full.

I guess as has been mentionned before it effects different people in different ways. Maybe if people are smoking 6 or 7 time a day
it just becomes too much of an effort to get off the couch and cook a meal or dial a takeaway !
