folks,, OH has decided she now wants to take her driving test when we get to ontario; in any comparison is taking lessons, then the test in-similar to the practices here (UK) - OH has had about 25/30 lessons here, done the test and failed on 2 criticals, time is limited now to book a retake..
if anyone recently has arrived, and went thru the process please let me know, I can appreciate the stress factor of the test, however some say because it's "auto" it a tad simpler...
comments please

In Ontario it appears one only requires to have a pulse to obtain a driving licence. The test is, in no way, as difficult as in the UK.

If you're moving soon, then your OH would only get a G2 license anyway, so would have to take a test again within 5 years - though would be able to drive without a supervisor....
My wife only passed her test a few months before we moved here, so has a G2 license now, but doesn't feel confident enough to go out on her own yet, so it may work out better for your OH to have some professional lessons and build confidence here. Check out the minimum time that you have to have each license though if that's a factor when needing transport i.e. think you have to hold a G1 license for a certain period before attempting G2 etc....
EDIT: Just noticed your location as Belfast - I thought that you can't exchange a NI license directly for an Ontario one anyway?

NI is different though I believe - you'd be wise to read through this

If you've held a GB license for over 2 years, then it's a straight swap for an Ontario G license, which has to be renewed every 5 years, but this doesn't involve a practical test.
