Driving licence in Alberta
#1
Just reading one of the other threads about learning to drive, As I hold a full UK driving licence I understand I can swop it for an Alberta licence without having to take a test but my teenage son is taking lessons and hoping to pass his test before we get to Edmonton, Is it possible for him to swop his licence should he pass for a full Alberta Licence or would he have to retake his test again.
Thanks in advance

Your son will be able to swap his UK licence for an Alberta one but he will only be issued a probationary license.
He will have to abide by the rules of stage 2 of the Alberta graduated licensing process as outlined in the PDF document linked below at the end of which he will be required to pass an advanced road test.

Thanks for that Steve, It makes things alot clearer. To be honest I'd never really thought about this until I'd read the other thread.
