My wife and I are looking to emigrate to Canada in the near future but we are doing some research before look into your services for filling in our application forms. We have family in Surrey, and also in Chilliwack.
The move hinges pretty much on my wife’s ability to work in Canada. She is a fully qualified Advanced Driving Instructor in the UK and has been working as a driving instructor for over 3 years, held a full driving license for 10 years. What would she need to do in order for her to continue working as a driving instructor once we have emigrated?
Would she need to retrain completely? What would be the process?
Cheers

She'd have to re qualify, when my OH looked into it (she had 15 years experience and ran her own school in the UK) BC licensing did not recognize a UK qualification. ICBC were looking into changing that, but as far as I know they have not done so. Best to contact ICBC to check. It should not be too difficult as she already has the experience. Bring all her documents and proof of experience with her. If she is working for a school, bring references and perhaps some testimonials from students. May hep in getting a job.

Do you know what your oh had to do to retrain? Was there a waiting time before she could start the training? How long did it take, and how many exams were there?

Did not bother, said the nerves were shot from 15 years as an instructor in the UK! We started another business and work from home.
