In BC landlords are not technicallyallowed to refuse a dog but in practice they almost always do. Those who do accept animals can now charge an additional damage deposit. See the BC Tenants Act for details.

In Saskatchewan you are more likely to be able to have a dog if you rent a house. They might allow a small dog in an apartment but almost never a big dog.

I have some friends who brought two small dogs with them from England and they rented a house where dogs were allowed.

Where are you thinking of settling?

I can recommend temporary furnished accommodation in Vancouver that will take pets That gives you a breathing space while you check out the rentals listings in the papers.

In both Toronto and Vancouver the availablity of rental accommodation is increasing!! This means rents are steady (or even decreasing) and landlords are not as pet unfriendly as they were!!

Hi, we've been checking out some rentals all last week in Toronto up town area and looks like Greenwin property management company welcome pets. There was a couple with a dog looking at some appartments together with us. The company's web site is www.resrent.com and they seem to have properties all over the country.

Good luck with the search
