Can anyone let me know if there are any Doctors taking on new patients in Okotoks? Been here since 21st April and still cannot find a Dr. Now need to get a blood test taken for my life insurance, do I just make an appointment with Urgeent Care? Not sure what to do, any advice please .

Hi. We had a similar problem here in Cochrane - all the doctors weren't taking on any new patients. I know here we have a walk-in clinic where you can just turn up, without an appointment and don't have to be registered. If just means you sometimes have to wait a little time. Perhaps ask around or at one of the doctors surgeries to see if there is a walk-in clinic in Okotoks.

If you have the paperwork you need for the blood test you should be able to just go to the lab as Piff Poff said. It's in the Health Centre on the opposite side of the corridor from Urgent Care.

Have you tried Dr Pepple in sheep river medical centre, she always seems to have places.

When we needed bloodwork for our life insurance the company (Sun Life) actually arranged for a nurse to come to our house and did everything there. I take it this company does not offer this?
We then had a problem when one of my husband's results came back "slightly abnormal" it scared the heck out of us as they wouldn't tell us what the problem was so we had to try and locate a doctor as they would only send the results to them. Well we ended up going to a walk-in clinic, waiting for an age, her agreeing to contact the insurance company and they sent the information through to that office, we then had to go back again, wait again only to find out that the Dr would not have even questioned the result. It was a slightly higher liver enzyme function, she was fuming that they even questioned this saying it stresses people out for no reason, looking back, we were really concerned, just moved to a new country only to be told there is something wrong with you!
But I digress, I hope you find a doctor soon, ask at the walk-in clinics if they know of any doctor taking on new patients, that is how I got our family doctor.
Good luck!

We go to Dr Wilson at the Mokala Med Centre in Okotoks but I have never had a blood test at my doctors. They normally just give you a requisition form & I take it to the Sth Calgary Health Centre where they take the blood.
