Differences between Canadian and British people

Re: Differences between Canadian and British people
I'd be happy if we could just get Pukka Pies here - even if they were the frozen ones in a supermarket.
I did e-mail the company in Leicester pointing out that they export to some other countries,
("Look out for our logo when travelling abroad as we now export into the following
countries: Austria, Barbados & Southern Islands, Cyprus, France, Gibraltar, Greece,
Holland, Hong Kong, Ibiza, Lanzarote, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Tenerife.")
There's a fair-sized British population in Canada. But I never even received a reply from them. (:
Maybe it needs a concerted e-mail effort from all the expats on here.
Here ya go:

Most of the places I used to really like in Vancouver have either closed or gone downhill and quite a few of the ones my friends show me as new favourites disappoint. I've only heard of Nando's on this site.

Chicken is pricey in Canada in general and not worth going to, 10 bucks for like 2 pcs and a drink, and the pieces are always small and dark meat, have to pay extra for white meat, just too pricey.
Mac D's is cheap so it attracts people. I can't even make a burger at home for 1.89 so when short on cash and need to fill the belly, it does do the job.

I tried Nado's once, wasn't good, was pricey, so will never go back.

Popeye's is pretty good. I never had it much as the locations in San Diego were not near me but they were a nice treat every so often if I felt like going for a drive.
We have a fried chicken place here, never had their chicken as the prices are high, but their wannabe Mexican food isn't too bad, but still priced high, I mean 9 dollars for a quesadilla is pretty high.

St Hub used to have restaurants elsewhere in Canada but now operates only (I think) in QC. By strange coincidence, Swiss Chalet closed all its places in QC. Maybe chickens are not the only things being carved-up?
KFC is not all that popular. It exists but there are not many branches outside Montreal and Quebec City. I think the QC preference is for chicken that has been on a rotisserie, not fried.

In contrast to the Pukka Pies story above, I commend Fuller, Smith and Turner for their timely and informative response to my inquiry concerning the non-availability of their primary product here. Their service offered by their distributors is still dreadful but, at least, I know they are interested in selling beer.

Also present in Ontario. I've purchased their chicken in Scarborough and in Guelph.

I never go for the Fuller's and usually have an Ontario highly hopped micro.

Come to Ottawa. Fuller's is on tap at my go to pub. It would be similar in ambience to the Woolwich Arms but more rural and in a former one room schoolhouse.

The pub looks appealing but if I'm up that way I suppose I should drink with my brother who favours a place called the Goose and Gridiron. He drinks piss mind.

Oh, it's easily available on tap (though I usually go for Arkell). It's just bottles and cans that are in erratic supply. Most often I get by with Mad Tom but yesterday I bought a case of assorted cans with a view to making the most of this latest drought. Perhaps a new favourite will be established.

Well, it will be worth the drive to Merrickville for me to drink Coors Lite.
I think I had dinner in that pub about 15 years ago. It was nothing special. There is a nicer place on the same street called the Gadd's Hill Place/Oliver Twist pub.
You have a brother who drinks piss and he's related to you.....My brother, who lives in Ireland, only seems to drink Guinness and whatever cheap eastern european lager is on special at Aldi that week. Quality ales are in short supply in Ireland.
Arkell is always good. Mad Tom on draught is one of my favourites.

One of those opened here recently.
