Default Dietitians

Hi there!

Just wondering if there is any information on any UK dietitians who have tried to transfer their credentials over to Canada?

I have searched all over, and don't see any posts about this topic, so I'm a bit worried it isn't actually possible.
Any help would be great!

Did you google?

https://www.dietitians.ca/Become-a-Dietitian/Internationally-Educated.aspx

Like many professions in Canada, it seems that Dieticians are regulated provincially. So the link says to contact the registry in the province you plan to move to in the first instance.

Hi there!

Thanks for the response!

I actually have looked it up and called/emailed them. I am a Canadian in the UK who is completing my dietetics degree and wanted to speak with someone who has actually completed the process.

The website and contacting the college only gives you the process on paper,
it doesnt give much or any insight on the success rate, issues that have come up with people who have tried, or the amount of RDs from the UK that have sucessfully completed the transfer.

Just looking for some tips and issues for other UK educated RDs that have tried to move to Canada.

Thanks!

If I may ask, why did you do your degree in the UK?

Why did you not check before you went over there how a foreign degree would fit with Canadian regulations?

Hi there!

I did check, but again, the college does not offer support to prospectives. You must already have a dietetics agree and begin the process for them to provide support.

I went because the schools providing the internship portion in Can is extremely competitive with 66% of students not able to complete it and not being able to register. I also wanted to do some travel while completing a second degree so choose to study abroad.

I mainly just wanted some advice from someone who has gone through this before I began the process myself. I have found countless other international educated dietitians, but again, none from the UK which I found interesting and would personally help me most.

Thanks!
