Diabetes - test strips
#1
Anyone know of a good deal?
I was given a meter (Freestyle/Freedom) but the strips are $90 for 100.
I have found them on Amazon.com @ $21 for 50 (less than half price) along with other brands for about $50 for 100 but they won't deliver to Canada.
I have found other sites with similarly low prices but, again, they won't deliver here. US sites that do deliver to Canada, the price suddenly goes up to $100 and that often doesn't include delivery costs. There's a serious con going on here isn't there?
I sometimes see drug store flyers advertising free meters if one buys 100 test strips. But there's never any indication of the cost of the strips.
Obviously I can enquire next time there's an offer but I just wondered if other people have found a way to spend less - other than if one makes trips to the US of course.

another thing to look at is maybe changing your monitor, i got a free one for my son, looks like the offer has ended but there free machine with 100 strips are here -- http://www.onetouch.ca/english/coupon.asp
Also if you know anyone in the uk, they sell the accu chek in asda for around 8 pounds and there strips are abit cheaper.
the only other thing is london drugs, walmart or speak to the diabetic centre
hope that helps you

Thanks for the response....I also found them @ $80 on the well.ca site. Unfortunately it's pre-tax and it's the same cost as I'm paying when it's added.
The asda idea is a good one. I could get my mum to have a look. She could send it to me as a xmas prezzie.
Good job I'm only testing every few days. If it was a couple of times a day a trip to the US word be worth it. And that's plain ridiculous.
