Ours had rabies shots before we left UK but I had the bloods done when we got to Canada as it was cheaper!

Once the bloods are taken, they cannot come back into Uk (unless into Quarrantine) until 6 months after the date the blood was taken, assuming it comes back correct ! (not 6 months from date of result)

ive had my dog done and blood tests too, couldnt bear to leave him or be parted if something goes wrong and we have to come back.

also check the jab, some are good for a year, some three. the three is common over here, its what my dog had, the one is more common in canada. your vet will advise.

If you read this leaflet from defra which was only published two days ago you have to have the passport OR a certificate from the vets? Therefore you wouldn't need the bloods and so on...

Hmm indeed Pets coming from non eu but listed countries ie Canada only need a cert if arriving jan 2012 onwards provided they were micro chipped THEN vaccinated and come on an approved route? Interesting!

We got our dog a pet passport before we moved over. This involved getting a rabies jab and the bloodwork to see if it "took". This seemed to simplify things on the way over.
The benefit is that it means no quarantine if we ever take him back to the uk.
