Hi
Just wondered does Canada have similar hours of sunshine and darkness that we do in the UK. For example winter here the sun only shines from 8 till 3.30 and in the summer 5.30-10.30.
I guess we are on a similar longitude

Yep .... it's going to be first Sunday in Nov --- Second Sunday in March, representing a total of 4 more weeks of DST. Ontario and Quebec have signed on. It would have started this year but the US wanted to give Canada time to ratify it also (believe it or not!!) -- Time is administered locally not federally in Canada and could have been done this year if they had known. Still, it's going to start in 2007.
Most of Indiana has never had DST.

As you say, we don't alter our clocks. I guess its darker later in the morning, but then right now its 5.22 and it looks like this outside:

(just noticed my dog's tail in the bottom of the pic!!)

The evenings are definitely getting lighter longer .... when we had tree lights outdoors on timer at Christmas we had them coming on at 4.15pm, but now looking out the window and the sun is till up, but the chinook cloud is going a very pretty pink!

I suspect you mean daylight hours. London and Calgary are similar.

Tonight here in Edmonton, the sun set at around 5.25pm, which isn't bad for January I don't think. What time is it setting back in the UK now??
