Default Customs

Hi,

I am a landed PR (February) trying to move permanently to Canada this summer. I am trying to figure out how to move our stuff from UK.
Our issue is that we move out of UK in June but arrive to Canada in late July.

I believe we have three options:

We send our stuff under my wife name but then I understand we might pay customs as my wife is considered a Canadian resident (less than 6 months abroad).

We send under my name as I am eligible to bring my goods when settling. The issue here is that we want to send our stuff now using air freight and I believe they will be hold at customs till July. What kind of cost this we might be facing?

We send under my name using a shipping container but then we have to wait 2 months for our goods and they might get damaged.

Am I missing something, do we have any other options?

We sent our stuff over in a container from the UK. Then next day the whole family flew to Canada. Camped in the apartment, and bought a house in Canada six weeks after landing. Our container come straight to the new house.
We did not bring any electrical items from UK. Otherwise brought over all our items (mountain of childrens toys, beds, sofas, chairs).
The children (5 and 10 years) settled quickly into the new house because they had their familiar toys from the UK.

Send the goods under your name. Why do you need to ship them now? If goods arrive before you do they will be held in storage by the receiving agent and storage fees most probably will be added on at a rate determined by the receiving agent.
Can the forwarder hold them in storage in the UK and then forwarded on a day or so after you fly out?

Your choice in the end.
