Crime in BC - with a difference
#1
We all comment on the fact that as a rule Canada has less crime than the UK. But how is this for a crime with a difference? This was printed in the Ottawa Citizen today.
20,000 blueberry bushes stolen from farmer
Call it the dark side of the blueberry boom. This weekend, about 20,000 blueberry bushes were stolen from an Abbotsford field -- a loss of about $75,000 for the farmer who planned to have them planted the next day. The labourers who arrived at dawn on Monday found nothing but tire tracks. "This is an odd one," Abbotsford police Const. Casey Vinet said. "In 13 years, I've never seen blueberries stolen before. So far, we have no suspects."
