I can't work out what the OP was actually objecting to. I didn't detect any more or less sarcasm or thread derailment than usual. I wonder why so sensitive?

From start to finish, (finish being you sitting in your new abode and looking at the 'bill' of it all...)

So:-

- Selling up UK home £.......
solicitors, Estate agency fees, council tax final bills, redirecting mail...

1.25 % to sell house plus legal costs, paid by company

- Shipping items £.....
full packing option, full container, 4 bedroom house, approx 6000 pounds paid by company..

- Flights £..
2 adults, 2 kids, extra luggage allowance, not sure but likely $2000 (11 years ago, paid for by company,

- Setting up costs $.......
Initial temporary accommodation / hotel, Rental property upfront deposit, temporary storage, Upfront utility fees, upfront TV / phone fees, mobile phones, private health/dental insurance, new household furniture
rental property, $3000 per month, paid for by company. $600 deposit to hydro company, for other set up costs we were given $10,000 by company, we spent it easily and we weren't extravagant.

- Car(s)$.......
Upfront finance deposits, one off / cash sale, salesperson fees, safety certificate/MOT, upfront insurance payment
rental car for 6 months, paid for by company, I think it was about $1200 per month

- School $.....
$200 to buy school supplies for two kids, we bought more than we needed, significantly lowered that number in subsequent years. No school transportation costs, walking distance

- Childcare $......
before and after school care for kids aged 4 + 6
I think this was $500 per month for 2 kids, before an after school. They only went for 3 days can't remember if I had to pay for all 5 or if the $500 was a pro rated amount

Obviously figures will vary due to where in Canada, size of family, company transfer covering costs etc

Any unforeseen costs can be added to the list I'm sure lol
I have added in my answers to you specific questions in red. One thing I haven't mentioned because we were six months in before we came across it is car insurance which was $4000 for two cars. As you can see our entire move was financed by our company, if we had come on our own we probably would have chosen some cheaper options eg rent and moving costs.

Does no-one think that shipping dogs is an essential part of emigration? Cheers! That was the major cost of getting me and Snoopdawg here although if you look in our profile pics some say that there is some family resemblance.. I can't see it...

Still bored!

:P

It's not the job hunting, it's thinking whether there is a long term path here in Vancouver - and if I can change my personality to schmooze (answer no)
But no, I won't say anything you don't, stinkypup

Never bothered schmoozing myself, a big wet lick on the face usually works for me!

Fair enough, some people do snipe but most are pretty good eggs and only one or two snipe consistently i.e. be open to feedback Cheers.

I am glad you agree that there are those who DO snipe on here. I am not one of them, I merely react to it (I know I shouldn't )

I am accepting and open to feedback, not pointless negativity and patronising comments. I genuinely appreciate when someone takes the time to assist.

I know of decent people/members of this forum who have actually left the site / stop using it due to the consistent unconstructive, antagonistic posts of others.
