Your best bet is to come over with a copy of your UK credit history, and hope for the best. Each bank (ie/ branch) will take their own view, but by and large, you'll be starting from scratch.
The fact that you'll have PR will be a major bonus though...

the most common reason police applicants are rejected is poor credit and debit. It demonstrates, immaturity and poor management of one's affairs and could be viewed as a security risk.

people with twp's are an increased risk because
1- on paper they're here for a finite period of time, usually 12 or 24 months tops. There's nothing stopping a twp borrower from leaving debts behind at the end of that period.
2- if you're laid off, normally your work permit becomes invalid and so you lose your income.
As a twp myself it's unbelievably frustrating, but I can understand their reasons and that's just the way it is.
If you have PR the above obviously don't apply...
