They do have a cancellation facility, we were lucky last year and got a double cancellation the day after our paper test, the examiner told us that if we had not got it,they were fully booked for the next month!

Also there is a good web site that you can practice the paper test on. Each time it gives you a different set of questions, so eventually you will have answered them all. We found the actual test easier than the web one, so if you can get the pass % on it you will have no probs with the real thing.(www.yd.com) and follow links -Learner's Practice Test.

Pam.
Good point, I had to wait 7 weeks to sit my test, mind you I had already gone over my 90 days by 8 months! oops! So it didn't matter too much

Thanks also for the link - much appreciated!

Trouble is I can now see a competiton coming on between me and OH to see who achieves 100% first! perhaps I shall keep it quiet for a while - practise like crazy and then nonchantly suggest we do the test!

Hi, the pass is 16 correct answers out of 20 questions on both papers,(80%). One paper on signs and the second on rules.

The biggest thing we found on our actual DT was,
1) not to do 'rolling stops', they hate them!
and
2) do not forget that at every crossway and stop sign you have to remember that the white stop line will about a meter back from the mouth of the junction to allow for pedestrians. On some roads , such as a side road onto a main road, this line will not be marked but you still have to stop the meter back, in case of imaginary pedestrians!
and finally,
3)The other point is, as with all driving tests, to remembering to look over your shoulder in a natural, (not!) exagerated manner.

We got the impression you had to be fairly bad for them to fail you.

Unless they changed it there isnt reverse parking as part of the test. The majority of locals wouldnt be able to do that! Also you provide your own car for the test so if you go out and buy a massive pickup truck then you've only yourself to blame
