Re: considering moving to Windsor, Ont.
I'm off to the Windsor area too (LaSalle/Amherstburg) and I like all of what Biiiiiink has to say plus has anyone seen how cheap it is to fly out of Detroit to destinations in Canada compared to flying within Canada?? Or even to places like Florida or Mexico???
fatabbott & toni1 you may want to read the local rag online - I read it everyday - http://www.canada.com/windsorstar/index.html it will give you a real insight on what goes on in Windsor and what windsorites generally moan about... There's a lot of stories regarding the CAW Canadian Automotive Workers and also its interesting to read how the locals bad mouth their own town:eek: and how they all seem to hate the mayor Eddie Francis Some of the issues they moan about are laughable to someone like me living just outside LDN... You also get to hear about the surrounding areas like Lasalle, Amherstburg the areas to the West end of Windsor to avoid, the influence Detroit has over the place and they all seem to dislike their Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick(He sounds like most MP's over here if you ask me) and the problems they are having implementing a new DRIC to ease congestion over the Ambassador Bridge. 1 last thing the paper also gives you the current temp in the top rh corner so you can see how cold or hot it gets throughout the winter/summer months... |

But if you were in Windsor there'd be little reason to go to the rest of Ontario. If you wanted shops you'd go to suburban Detroit, if you wanted countryside you'd go to the UP, sailing Bay City, theatre and culture NYC, vacation somewhere from the Detroit airport.

No decent snomobile or ATV trails in Windsor for one of the top of my head. Besides which I like to travel and see new places so reason enough to see the rest of Ontario as well as the rest of the world, its a big place plenty of new stuff to see.

aside from the jobs, what does everything else think about low housing prices which means less mortgages and the lifestyle there..in windsor?
Quinte also offers low housing costs, the average home here is somewhere around $200k I believe, but salaries are also lower for skilled workers, relative to the GTA where housing costs are probably at least double. My Job in Toronto would probably pay 30% more. But there is a lot more to "lifestyle" than just money. |

Both an ATV and a snowmobile. And a horse. And a streetcar. I've even driven a car.
I've worked in all but (I think) five states, most of the European countries, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore. I don't think I'm a shut in. I just don't think that, if you've seen Tilsonburg and Chatham there's any compelling reason to see Belleville or Magnetawan. |

I'm not knocking Belleville nor Cornwall nor Parry Sound nor Alliston nor Guelph just wondering why, if you were in one, there would be any need to see another.

I think, btw, that I did get a ticket in Belleville, is that where the Quinte Mall is?
In some jurisdictions they give tickets only if you really are going too fast...Chatham unfortunately isnt one of those |
