Hello to you all
We ( me, Husband and 2 young daughters) are looking to move from the uk. Me and my husband like so many people on here want a better life for our little girls with out the worry that unless they carry a knive they will be killed over an arguement over a chocolate bar in a sweet shop !!
We have both worked from age 14 and are only youngish 26 24 but have no trade behind us. I am a Pa and he is a duty manager of a large supermarket. We work nearly every hour between us, when one is at work the other is looking after the chidlren and are fed up with the uk over the crime rate and for us to work so damn hard and others not doing a damn thing and getting more than us !! makes me so mad
anyone enough about me hating uk, we were looking to move to Oz but with out a trade its going to be a while and we have heard that canada is a good place but have no good knowledge about it or does anyone else have any places to live??

Hello, Larlinlisa, and welcome to the BE forum.
Morwenna is right about a trade being very useful if you want to get into Canada.
There is one tiny chink in the armour that I can see. Executive Assistants are listed as an Occupation under Pressure in British Columbia.
The good news is that that increases the chances you might be able to get a job offer that would lead to a temporary work permit and later a permanent residence visa. The bad news is that BC is one of the most expensive provinces in Canada.
Pay for administrative assistants is okay-ish. It's an acceptable wage if you have another wage earner in the family who is earning a decent income. But, unless your husband is very enterprising, he may earn less than you. Your combined income may not be anything to write home about.
BC offers a great lifestyle (skiing and all that) if you have money. But it's no fun to be poor in Canada.
Frankly, I think you need to think about this very carefully before you take the plunge. I strongly recommend that you read the Moving back to the UK forum, and find out why people give up on Australia, Canada, etc.
Hope that helps.

Hi Larlinlisa
Have a look at www.mls.ca to get an idea of housing costs and styles, to be able to get a mortgage in Canada you need at least a 35% deposit. I think you can see rental options as well.
Some Canadian newspapers are online and perhaps thats another option to see what the rental price are, use google to find them.
Without knowing an area you would like to move to it is hard for people to give advice.
I hope I have helped.

You mentioned knife culture! it happens all over, you won't escape crime. If you have well paid, good jobs, then make sure you leave to good jobs elsewhere . It's not plain sailing in other countries, tradies have a tough time. It may be sunnier, but nothing is guaranteed. You sound angry at the mo, but emigrating is not always the answer.
