Hi, can anyone tell me what the commute from Barrie to Brampton is like in rush hour, and if its doable in the Winter.
thanks

One wonders, of course, what Barrie has that Brampton doesn't. Free use of a relative's basement perhaps.

Pretty bad, a lot of traffic on extremely busy highways prone to accidents.

That strikes me as nonsense. Even google maps (which takes no account of realities such as rush hour, winter and near daily traffic accidents) reckons one hour from Dunlop Street in central Barrie to Steeles and the 407.

I drove that, leaving at around noon, a month or so ago. It took me an hour. I can't imagine doing it in 45 minutes unless you can go at odd times of the day.

He would not admit what it takes on a bad day as he is trying to pursuade my OH to move to Barrie. He has no issue with the journey, traffic, accidents etc, and the fact that he does this journey every single day, but he is Canadian!
Happy chaps!

Then I'd have thought you quite well placed now. Inglewood or Cheltenham, some place like that, would be more rural and an easier drive then he currently has. One of the dreadful outer bits of Mississauga would offer a Barrie-like environment of big box stores and housing estates and also be an easier drive. Still, neither of those options give his colleague someone for the carpool.

Orangeville's certainly commutable to Brampton.
I think you should talk to Community Living. There's a Community Living Dufferin, CL Peel and so on. It's the arm of local government concerned with disabilities. If the local one to you is unhelpful, try the next one.

When I'm in Brampton working I take the 400 for the morning run and a leisurely drive back up the 27 on the way home. I live on the south end too and it takes anywhere from an hour in the mornings and an extra 20 mins on the way home.

In rush hour a drive from NE Brampton to SW Brampton takes over 30 minutes to just do that little journey in traffic - never mind when it's raining or snowing and everything slows to a crawl. I can't imagine a commute from Barrie every day.

Just curious regarding Canadian Tire, are you working in the warehouses? My husband is at AJ Billes.
