Coach Drivers
Have seen lots of threads on this site about truck drivers, but does anyone have any information on coach drivers. I have both my truck and coach licences just wondered if there was as many opportunities for coach drivers

Re: Coach Drivers
Logic suggests to me that there is not nearly as much work for coach drivers as there is for truck drivers. I mean, all I have to do is look around me. There are far more trucks delivering basic commodities, like groceries, than there are coaches transporting tourists.
Nonetheless, there are opportunities for coach drivers. There are a few scheduled, intra-city bus services. Greyhound is a national one. There also are local ones. For example, between Calgary and Edmonton we have Red Arrow. In addition to that, there are coaches that take tourists on guided tours. Those of us who live in Calgary see a lot of those kinds of coaches in the nearby Rocky Mountains. Brewster, whose headquarters are in Banff, Alberta, is one of many companies that provides guided coach tours through the Rockies to Vancouver. I'm not familiar with the companies in the eastern half of Canada, but all you'd need to do is do a Google search for coach tours in Canada. You can get an idea of the amount of tourist activity in each province if you go to the TripAdvisor forum, which is a travel discussion forum. You can see the number of discussion threads about each province. At this moment the statistics are: Ontario - 8,472 xBritish Columbia - 7,370 Quebec - 4,859 Alberta - 3,836 Nova Scotia - 1,701 Newfoundland - 444 Prince Edward Island - 329 Manitoba - 253 New Brunswick - 233 Saskatchewan - 105 Yukon - 91 Northwest Territories - 18 Nunavut - 13 |
