Ours was searched too - we bought two motorbikes with us and that was what they were interested in.

I think we were just lucky

I don't know if it was a random check - the shipping agents mentioned that it was because we were coppers (and of course, we were trying to smuggle in our illegal arsenal between the bed linen) - but I don't buy that 'cos it would never have said anywhere on our documentation what our professions were. There were no weapons listed by the way.

They emptied the whole container over the warehouse floor and x-rayed every item. They opened the box that contained tinned foods but my stash of baked beans were safe. The didn't open another box containing dried foods, herbs and spices, etc. And they opened up one other box - I think my old wooden truncheon looked "interesting" in the x-ray! , and they opened up a crated picture.

Items were damaged but I cannot say when. I suspect most were damaged not in transit, or even when the container was emptied - but when they re-loaded the whole lot into a lorry to bring it to the house, things were scratched and dented
