citizenship test
#16
I live in Oakville and took the test in Hamilton. I don't know who the local ones would be for Hamilton (I did look up the Oakville ones though), so if I had been asked it would be a bit hard for me. As it stands, I cannot remember who the mayor is (Rob someone perhaps?) let alone the party in power locally, and who represents them.
I could understand provisional level and federal level politicians being asked about, that makes a little bit more sense, as if you are in Ontario, you should know who the premier of Ontario is.
I think the very local level is a little too specific, as I reckon if I asked my neighbours, most could not name me the same people either.

From: ex. manc now gta.

thanks to all who replied. i took my test today (15 march) and i scored 19 from 20. so im pretty pleased right now, it was`nt that bad but i guess its like someone said on here if you prepare well enough there`s no hard questions. To make things even better i go back on mon. (18 march) to take the oath. so since i first applied for citizenship in july 2012 i guess i`ve been lucky the whole process took a very short time versus some of the postings i`ve seen on this site. anyways time for some power`s now or maybe i should make that crown royal instead. cheers

Has anyone actually be asked those questions about local politicians?

Use Google, Most regions have on-line citizenship tests with which to practise
and again read the book if you’ve read and digested the book the test is seriously easy
Some may go as far to suggest i'st more about your ability to read and understand a topic in one of the official languages than about knowledge of Canada
On the passport thing read the sheet, from memory you’re asked to bring all the passports you have

I could not forget my test if I tried. Quizzed by a Bloke who may have known about Canada...unfortunately he spoke a version of English I have never heard.
I still chuckle....to his credit....we both persevered. Vancouver 1990...
