I sent in my application on October 19th and didn't hear anything until the end of January when i got a letter saying it would take 15 months to process the application. However I did get called in to sit the test on May 2nd and I am now waiting to get a date to take the oath.

My experience, for both the test and ceremony, was hear nothing for weeks/months and then get a letter with about 3 days notice to go.

Sounds right, and a good idea it is too to discourage those only looking for a citizenship of convenience from skipping the country early.

True except it doesn't allow much room for manouvering if you have to take the day off work or were going on vacation that week or something similar as you can't just reschedule you have to wait a few more months for the next round.

So? What does it matter if you have to wait a little longer....citizenship should be for life, not just for christmas.

I could not agree more. Makes one wonder what percentage of people who apply for citizenship here in Canada do so for reasons other than wanting to become Canadian? Perhaps the process needs to be more circumspect?

However that said I leave on July 13th and although I've done the test I haven't been called back for the oath. If I get it before I leave great but if I don't I have no right to complain.
