It doesn't mean there aren't nice people who enjoy their lives and raise their families, but, and we've had this discussion before, there's a reason why the property prices in London, Paris, New York, St. Tropez etc are higher than the cities on the prairies of the Canadian mid-west.
I can honestly say that we never lock our vehicles let alone take the keys out,and I could not tell you where the house keys are as the last time we used them was in 2006 to move in.
Try doing that in your mentioned cities and you'll soon realise that life in in the Prairies ain't that bad after all, inspite of the nonsense put on here by numbnuts from the GTA.

I, too, don't really understand the relevance of property prices in this debate. In most 'Livable Cities' studies around the world, high property prices actually make for a lower score. In downtown Mumbai, property prices are comparable to Manhattan. However, I do not think there are a great number of people who would think living close to Nariman Point is similar to living close to Times Square in terms of standard of living.
Furthermore, like I said in one of my earlier posts in this thread, most of the negative statements about living in SK come from people who don't live in SK or have never lived in SK. Even though, this is confirmed in this thread, my comment is not directed at anyone in particular. It stems from what I was told about Regina by people in the Maritimes and in Toronto. I have nothing against these people. I used to be one of them. When I learnt that I would be moving to Regina, my first thought was "Why Regina? Why not Halifax, or Montreal, or Calgary, or Vancouver, or Ottawa.......?"
It is true that Regina, or any place in SK for that matter, is probably not a place most people would choose to move to, but that is not because its a bad place to live. I believe it's because there has been such a stigma created around SK being a poor province, backwards, have-not province etc. in the past that no matter how much progress it makes, people outside of SK will always think it's not a great place to live.
I, for one, feel lucky to have got the opportunity to move here and discover what a great place it is. After I moved, there were others in my company based in different cities in Canada that we were trying to get to move here, but probably only 10% of them agreed. I used to look at the younger guys and felt sorry for them because they were turning down a great chance to be in one of the fastest growing (if not the fastest) cities in Canada just because of second or third-hand information. From a professional standpoint, I cannot think of a better place than Regina and Saskatoon to be in right now.
This post is not to say that everyone who lives in SK loves it here. I have met people who hate it, probably just as much as the gentleman on here who works through the weekend. There are a number of factors...too flat, too cold, no beach, no great skiing, no gigantic malls etc. but in my experience, there have been many more who love the experience of living here than not.

Also, their assumption that other people are similarly attached to where they live. Generally people in the GTA are pretty much indifferent to it, people live in Oakville because it's alright and near to work, they don't live in Oakville because the other choice was Juan le Pins. I can't imagine someone defending, say, Etobicoke, with the ferocity used for Regina.

Moreover, despite being formerly a numbnut from the GTA, he thoroughly enjoyed living in North Bay ON for four years prior to moving Regina.
North Bay also has a large urban First Nations minority, but they, for the most part, aren't ignored and reviled by the rest of the population.
Some other people on this thread have commented that what crime there is in Regina doesn't effect them because it takes place in the North Central district. I merely added that it is also ignored by the media.

The particular numbnut from the GTA to whom the comment I reported was made is my son, who, I repeat, lives in to Regina.

Not too sure which 5 murders you're flapping your gums about because nobody here recalls them, probably getting Regina confused with Winnipeg, bless
